THE POWER OF AGE
After several years of painting with seniors in my community, this is what I've discovered; some may have vision problems and after a few sessions, paint with ease. Others are challenged with hand coordination, tremors and advanced arthritis, but dexterity improves as they paint. Still others come because they have lost a beloved spouse and their children are afraid they have given up. And all find the sheer joy and calm of brush on canvas and the consistent companionship of fellow newly discovered and sometimes rediscovered artists.

Much of the experience and growth can be attributed to using the creative side of the brain while painting. Coming together and painting at Suffern Village Community Center or through programs like Rockland County Meals On Wheels and Rockland Community College's Power of Age program gives purpose. A sense of accomplishment and is a beautiful addition to living life fully. Having a mobile business offers me the ability to go to my programs which makes them much more accessible.
Best of all, we paint our way to an unforgettable day! |
