Some of my most rewarding moments as an artist and instructor are in unexpected places. Thanks to grants awarded through the REACH Foundation of Rockland, Artytime has been welcomed into Suffern Central School District's Middle School and High School. Pictured here are Mrs. McKenzie's senior English class.
The #1 reason to create art: Studies found that spending 30 minutes creating art, especially free-form painting, was associated with reduced anxiety levels and levels of the hormone cortisol — which is associated with stress. With this painting, each student was able to express their mood and emotions with the colors they chose, creating these beautiful, fierce, elegant lions. |
Yale EIThe Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence uses the power of emotions to create a more effective and compassionate society. Art is an integral part of expressing emotions. Creating art aids in managing behaviors, processing feelings, reducing stress and anxiety, and increasing self-esteem.
